Meet Your Therapist

I have always been interested in what can be done to alleviate human suffering.
My passion for helping people is why I became a therapist and why I opened this private practice.
I have been licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) since 1989 and use various evidence-based treatment modalities, including EMDR, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy, to provide therapy services to adults and children suffering primarily from trauma, depression, and anxiety.
I grew up in Kuwait and attended the American School of Kuwait, where I learned to speak English. However, during high school, my family fled the unrested in the Middle East and relocated to Los Angeles, California. While an undergraduate at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, I began working in mental health care. During my years there, I helped a variety of populations in different settings, including small children in daycare, adult males in a medium-security prison, and adult patients suffering from depression in an inpatient setting. This experience was fascinating.
After graduating with my bachelor's degree, I enrolled in a master's degree program at the California Graduate Institute in Los Angeles, obtaining my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy three years later. Four years after that, in 1989, I obtained my LMFT license. Since then, I have worked in numerous inpatient and outpatient settings, gaining extensive clinical experience.
For 22 years, I worked for Kaiser Permanente in an outpatient clinic in the San Fernando Valley. In June 2021, due to the pandemic, I transferred to a new department created by Kaiser called the Virtual Medical Center. In this position, I currently serve multiple locations across Southern California, providing video and telehealth mental health services. At Healing and Wellness, I provide therapy in person in Woodland Hills, CA, and virtually online for anyone in California.
I have a grown daughter and am continually working on myself emotionally and spiritually. I am divorced but have beautiful friendships in my life that sustain me. I enjoy crafting, particularly needlepoint and painting. I love the ocean and swimming in it. I feel fortunate to live in Southern California, where many cultures exist.
